Looking into the client experience

Every business is unique with different cultures, goals, and resources. Towards the end of 2021, our research highlighted that a worker skill that might be essential for one employer might be considered a bonus skill for another employer.

Is it mandatory for a Waiter to be cashier trained? The choice comes down to the business.

What’s the problem?

Currently, each role has skills automatically applied based on the industry standards. This impacts shift fulfillment rates by decreasing the amount of qualified workers available as the list of requirements rise. With 11.4 million job openings in the US labor market, thanks to the nationwide shortage of workers, it’s crucial now more than ever that employers adapt to attract talent.

Having a list of essential skills is not a bad thing. In some cases, this is necessary to fit the client’s requirements, and workers should fit that profile. But what about when this isn’t the case?

If some of the skills are not required by the client, the right workers might be overlooked and unable to apply for the job.

How is the update a solution?

We strive to give control and choice to our clients. With this update, they can specify what competencies are essential when posting jobs. The update includes an easy-to-use toggle that, when turned off, indicates that the skill is flexible.

Clients will also have the opportunity to speak with our team of experts to hear recommendations for each job with a goal of improved shift fulfillment rate. We’ll include a check box so that clients can specify if they are open to discussing their preferences with the Indeed Flex team.

Please note that this excludes any legal skills or certification requirements that Indeed Flex, as an employer, has an obligation to fulfill.

Job Templates

Our templating function means that if you take advantage of this new update, you can save your skills preferences as a job template once you’ve perfected them. This means you can post jobs quickly and easily with your new preferred competencies.

The benefits

  • Larger worker pool
  • Boost fulfillment
  • More personalized client experience
  • More personalized worker requirements
