Inflation Pressure Prompts a Quarter of Americans to Seek Holiday Season Temp Jobs
Indeed Flex officially launches in the US as interest in seasonal work soars
Austin, TX, – The number of Americans taking on a temporary job to top up their income this holiday season has surged, according to a new analysis by Indeed Flex, the online marketplace for flexible and temporary workers.
The findings come as the Indeed Flex brand formally launches across the US with a multi-state advertising campaign.
Its research has found that interest in flexible work during the holiday season is soaring, with one in eight (12%) US adults already looking proactively for seasonal work, 14% planning to start looking soon and more than a quarter (28%) considering searching for temp work during the holiday season1.
Seasonal jobs in fast-moving sectors, including hospitality, retail, and logistics, are proving especially popular as Americans grapple with rapidly rising food prices and interest rates.
With US consumer inflation running at 8.3% a year2, Indeed Flex’s analysis reveals that a quarter (26%) of those planning to take up seasonal work this winter are doing so to top up their income. Another 18% say they want to do temporary work to earn extra money to buy holiday gifts for friends and family.
Indeed Flex, which is part of the Indeed family and officially launches its first mass media campaign across multiple cities in the US this week, makes searching for temporary and flexible work effortless.
Through its easy-to-use mobile app, Indeed Flex empowers job seekers to quickly and easily find short- and long-term, temporary employment opportunities that fit into their schedule.
It also helps employers access a high-quality, verified workforce, as well as a suite of flexible staffing solutions for their temporary staffing needs.
Currently operating in Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, and Arkansas, Indeed Flex recently launched in California as well, becoming available to job seekers and employers in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

“The holidays are always a busy time in the temporary jobs market, but this is especially true this year as rising living costs have millions of Americans considering ways to increase their income.
The temporary work opportunities found on Indeed Flex allow job seekers to find roles that best suit them and their schedule.
This lets them fit their financial needs and tailor their hours to fit their lifestyle, including education, other jobs, hobbies, and childcare responsibilities.
Our recent expansion in the US marks an important milestone on Indeed Flex’s growth journey, and we look forward to making the platform available to even more workers and employers as we expand around the country.”
